hello doll!

oh you just keep getting better and better.  each month i think is my favorite, but daddy and i agree that four months is the best yet!  you are developing such a sweet personality and your smiley reactions are simply the best.  you are so incredibly patient and can entertain yourself now, which is darling to watch.  knowing that each month just keeps getting better and better, we are so excited to see what is coming up in the months ahead for our family.

just like the typical baby, you are going through the 4 month sleep regression and took a step backwards in sleep.  daddy says you just love mama so much that you want to see me more often throughout the night.  you have decided that you no longer want to be swaddled because it takes your thumb away and you have decided to be a thumb sucker at 16 weeks!  it is the most darling thing i have ever seen.  you love to roll on your side, pop your thumb in your mouth and curl your legs up while you sleep.  even though we are exhausted, sometimes we gush over you as you sleep and talk about how darn cute you are.

if the walls in our home could talk this month, they would say that all we do is dote on you.  everything you do makes us smile and we say, “my gosh, she is so cute,” about thirty times a day.  you started to laugh this month and, even though it is hard to get you to giggle, when you do it is hilarious.  we always try to do the funniest things to get you to laugh, and you just smile away…probably thinking we are just plain silly!  but every once in awhile, you will bless us with a cute little chuckle and its the best sound we have ever heard.  you are darling at everything, and you are definitely darling at laughing.

on july 15th you first reached for a toy, gigi the giraffe.  since then you have become very fond of holding things.  you really love your blankie animals, and you cuddle them so tight!  you are learning how to grasp toys, some are easier to hold than others…and everything goes straight to the mouth!  this has your clean freak parents constantly running your toys through the sanitizer, you are keeping us on our toes!

we think you are in the early stages of teething so you and i went on a shopping spree for teethers this week.  any excuse for some shopping with mama!  we went for teethers and came home with yet another pair of baby skinny jeans, a cute outfit, a top, a rattle, and a peacoat that won’t fit you until you start preschool.  luckily, your daddy just laughed and said that the peacoat was particularly darling.  oh, and we bought teethers too.

you are learning to love your carseat more and more.  i think it is a patience thing and you just cuddle your sweet toys while we drive.  you usually start to fuss right when we are arriving at our destination and daddy and i look at one another like, “perfect timing, we are here!”  you are particularly fond of strolling through target, which pleases mama to no end.  we love taking an afternoon trip to target with nothing on our list, for the sole purpose of getting some fresh air as being outdoors in this humid heat isn’t allowed for you just yet.  first, we like to stop at starbucks to grab mama a tea and a brownie, then we stroll through the aisles and try (and fail) not to buy everything, and send a million selfies of us to daddy at work.  he loves getting pictures of us throughout the day as we go on our girl adventures.

you have so much to say these days!  you love it when mama copies your sounds and you are starting to say things with such expression.  i often bring out of video camera to record you talking and you love it when i play it back to you.  you love watching yourself on the video and it’s so cute watching you listen so intently.  you also love listening to nursery rhymes.  mama loves singing to you, whether it is a classic “mary had a little lamb” or a little florida georgia line.  if we aren’t waiting for daddy at the front door after work, he mostly finds us singing country music in the kitchen while we make dinner.

you were such a good party planner with mama, as we officially surprised daddy by filling the house with all of our friends for his 30th birthday.  you are so good a keeping secrets, he had no idea!  we not only invited all of his friends, but we did all the shopping and decorated the house so perfectly to surprise him on his special day.  he really loved us for it and it was such a wonderful first party for you!

it was the first party of the summer, but not the last.  we went to another party just last weekend and you were just an amazing little girl.  you enjoyed being cuddled by mommy and daddy’s friends and you amazed everyone with how calm and quiet you were. we just love taking you everywhere with us and everyone just swoons when you come through the door.

while most of our month was extremely fun, you got your very first fever after your 4 month vaccinations.  while you were still smiley and sweet, you were a tad quiet and had mama worried.  luckily your fever only lasted a very short while and you were back to being yourself.

as the summer is quickly coming to an end, we are getting more and more excited to start the holiday season with you.  we have lots of travel coming up, holiday traditions to make as a family, and more memories to make as a sweet family.  just seeing how much you have changed in just four month, we are so excited to see who you become in the months ahead.  no matter what, we know you are going to be so sweet and loving and we love you always.

i love you forever, my love!

love, mama
