We Are Three! | A Pinkalicious Birthday Party

We are three!  It truly feels like days ago that we brought her home and now we are arranging 3 candles on the top of her birthday cake!  Our 3 year old’s birthday celebration was a very pink affair, as she requested a Pinkalicious birthday party.  I love how involved she could be this year, when deciding what birthday party she wanted, shopping for decor and party decorations, and anticipating her big day.  It made it even more important for me to bring her pink birthday dream to life before her very eyes, as I did many early morning checklists in the month leading up to her birthday.  Every detail was thoughtfully planned in pink, from her birthday cake, to the crafts the children did, to the decor.  When thinking about her birthday, our daughter repeatedly asked to share pink cupcakes with her friends with pink forks.  Easy peasy, check!  And because it was a very Pinkalicious affair, each cupcake was topped with a crown and served with a magical wand.  Plus, popcorn and pink lemonade.  There is something so delicious about popcorn with cupcakes, as a little salty to the sweet.  And to make sure it was a completely pink affair, all of our birthday guests wore their best pink outfits!  To know where I found the decor and details that brought this Pinkalicious birthday party to life, be sure to view the source list found further down within this post.

We Are Three! | A Pinkalicious Birthday Party

This year, she wanted to help me take pictures of her birthday decorations prior to her guests arriving.  As I snapped a few images of the details that brought her party to life, she stood right along side me with her own little camera.  It was a heart melter.

After getting our party pics and realizing we still had plenty of time before the party, we took some time to read Pinkalicious and get some actual birthday portraits.  In the months of patiently waiting for her birthday to arrive, her eyes were completely sparkling as she realized it was actually her big day…finally.

No birthday is complete without a photo of my girls with their letter board.  In all honesty, I was moments away from totally forgetting it this year.  Luckily, it came to mind at the very last second and I was able to quickly arrange the letters and get some photos of her before her friends arrived!  Whew!

While planning birthday parties usually involves a little stress, a lot of coffee, and many checklists…seeing the excitement and wonderment in our girls’ eyes on their big day makes all of the finely detailed planning worth it.  Much like Christmas morning, it seems like months of planning and preparing are for a party that seems to fly by in the blink of an eye.  It was nice to be able to savor the morning and enjoy her day.  I am thrilled with how this Pinkalicious birthday party played out and, as the girls continue to grow and become more involved in planning their parties, I cannot wait to see what ideas they have in the future for their fun day!  There is something so wonderful about making their little idea come to life and watching them realize, “Hey, this was my idea and it is really happening!”  It’s a special thing.
