A Classic Baby Book : How To Document Every Baby Milestone

Before my first daughter was born, I spent a really long time searching for a classic baby book to document all of her milestones in.  I wanted something that’s style would be simple and would stand the test of time.  Everything that I found was loud and splattered with cartoonish characters, or gave me the impression that it was a fad item.  After quite a bit of time searching, I finally came across a classic baby book that was simple, timeless, and so organized inside.  In fact, it is so organized that it walked me through documenting my daughter’s milestones because it told me exactly what phases and important dates to write down.  I love this book so much so that I bought it again for our second daughter, giving the girls matching books.  And that thrills me to pieces.

Need help knowing what photos to take of your baby during the first year?  Be sure to read The First Twelve: A Guide To Photographing Your Baby’s First Year, where I give you a step by step guide to photographing each and every milestone your baby will have during their first twelve months.  Plus, I will share how to edit in an editing video!

Protective Sleeve

While simple, one of my favorite things about this classic baby book is that the front simply has two little feet on the cover.  Simple and timeless, without loud letters or characters.  To preserve the beautiful white cover, this classic baby book comes with a protective sleeve to keep the book in.  Even though this concept is simple, it is something that I really appreciate.  I put a lot of time into my girls’ baby books and I want to ensure that they remain in perfect condition, to be enjoyed by them and their own children in the many years ahead.

Detailed Milestone Layout

This classic baby book is not only simple and traditional, but it is very well organized inside when it comes to page layout.  To be honest, this classic baby book isn’t going to allow you to miss a single milestone or important date in your baby’s first year.  And I love that!  As new mamas, we are busy and tired enough as it is to remember each and every thing, so this book is a wonderful assistant in reminding you what to document and what dates are important.  From documenting your family history, important details about you and your spouse, your pregnancy and how you announced, the day your baby took their first breath, first foods, teeth, talking, walking, and details of their first birthday…this classic baby book literally covers it all!

One of my favorite things is that this book has specific 3 month check in’s, where you really document the details of your baby’s everyday.  Things like what your baby is eating, how they are sleeping, things they took to right away, things they took their time mastering and things you always want to remember.  If you are a parent, you know that things like eating and sleeping change drastically for babies within the first year, so it is really fun to document these little specifics, as they are fleeting.

Don’t forget your must have copy of The First Twelve: A Guide To Photographing Your Baby’s First Year, where you will be shown exactly how to photograph each and every detail of your baby’s first year that you will want to remember.  Don’t regret a moment with your camera, and learn how to document your baby and their every detail, before they grow!

Important Dates and Keepsakes

While not pictured, my absolute favorite thing about this classic baby book is that it gives you a teeny tiny envelope for your baby’s hair, to be kept from their first haircut!  On the haircut page, it gives you room to include before and after photos of your baby’s hair, as well as a little place to preserve their tiny baby locks.  That tiny and simple detail was what sold me on this book because I knew at that point that this classic baby book would preserve and document every moment that I mama really holds close to her heart.

As well as a small envelope, there is a bigger envelope placed inside of the baby book that I find very useful, when wanting to keep non-photo keepsakes.  In this envelope, I keep the girls’ hospital bracelets, first birthday invitations, and other sentimental items from their baby years.

And when it comes to dates, there is no way you will ever miss an important one.  This classic baby book literally tells you every date to document, which is so helpful in reminding you what things to look out for during your baby’s first year.  I also goes beautifully hand in hand with The First Twelve: A Guide to Documenting Your Baby’s First Year, as you photograph all your baby’s milestones to place within your baby book.  It gives you plenty of room to place photos of your baby’s first year.

One of my favorite pages is the Growing page, where you can document their growth.  It is so fun to see how much they grow during the first few years, and I make a habit out of writing these details in their book after each visit to the pediatrician.

Picking a baby book is really hard, as you want to make sure it stands the test of time and documents all of the details that you truly want to savor.  This classic baby book is the only book I recommend, as it is truly timeless and beautiful, while being very detailed and thorough in terms of documenting milestones.  This book will literally not allow you to miss a moment with your baby, as it gently reminds you of what to document.  I hope this book brings your family as much joy as it has brought mine.
