When it comes to crafting with Cricut, there are many things that you don’t really need.  But let me tell you, an EasyPress 2 is something that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to craft with HTV or Iron On.  When I first started working with HTV, I tried using a household iron and it was so stressful and I melted my material!  It only took one fail or two with the iron to realize that the EasyPress 2 is worth every penny.  Ever since having the EasyPress 2 on my craft table, I have had perfect results with my HTV Projects!  In this tutorial, I will be doing a Cricut EasyPress 2 unboxing to show you exactly what comes in the box and how you can do your first project right away!  This is my second EasyPress 2, as this tutorial will show me unboxing a new and bigger size that I added to my craft space!  I will tell you why I chose this size in the video as well!

One of the best beginner projects to do when working with HTV is creating a dish towel.  They are so easy to create, make a great gift, and allow you to really practice with HTV on a smaller project.  In this tutorial we will be creating a Cricut Joy Dish Towel with 3 different layers of HTV.  You will learn how to look up the heat settings for each layer and how to apply each layer to your dish towel.  Additionally, you will learn how to cut materials that are not Smart Materials in the Cricut Joy and we use a combination of Cricut brand HTV and off brand HTV.

Cricut Joy Dish Towel with Multiple HTV Layers

I love how this little dish towel turned out and how it brightened up my kitchen for spring.  I love the combination of patterned HTV with solid HTV that really pulled this look together.  By editing some SVGs in Cricut Design Space, I was able to use a combination of SVG files to bring this look together and I think it turned out really nicely.  Be sure to check out the source list below the video to see what materials were used to create these dish towels if you would like to recreate this look at your craft table.  Enjoy and happy crafting!

There are a few things you need to do after first plugging in your new Cricut machine, and calibrating is one of the most important.  Calibrating your machine improves the cutting accuracy when doing print then cut projects and it’s very important that you take this step so your machine cuts your projects flawlessly.  Learning how to calibrate your Cricut is very easy and it takes very little time.  Even more, once you learn how to calibrate your Cricut you shouldn’t have to do it often.  Once your Cricut is calibrated it should be good to go, unless you begin to notice cutting problems on your print then cut projects.
